Full Description
A hoard of 1413 coins, ranging from Ed VI to Charles I (1547-1649) were found 6in below the surface while ploughing in Brewster's field, Orston, on 06/02/1952. There were no traces of a container. 7 coins were purchased by the BM, and the remainder sold by auction. (1)
Finder AK Payne, The Bungalow, Thoroton. Declared Treasure Trove; 14 coins including the 2 gold ones now at NWM, 7 purchased by the BM, the remainder sold by auction. (2)
Published find spot checked by the finder in the field and found correct. It falls in a now ploughed area of obvious shrinkage. (3)
