Full Description

Essentially C12-13. W tower [with] a Norman triplet [window] on the top floor, and above that a spire which in its present form is certainly C19, probably re-cast from what had been done in 1680. A plain Norman doorway on the S side of the chancel. The S windows … are typical late C13. Perp clerestory and … battlements. A. E. Street includes this church in his list of G. E. Street's restorations, but there is no trace of Street in the building. Hine altered the vicarage in 1874. Did he also restore the church? (1)
In the reign of Charles II (circa 1672) … the spire … "was beaten down by thunder". The tower from plinth to cornice, the [N] arcade [and] the lower portion of the chancel walls are the work of the Transitional period. (2)
