Rectangular moat 6ft deep and wide. No causeways. Plan as shown on 6in sheet with additions forming baileys or enclosures. Oval mound on NW side with deep fosse in centre. Vallum running parallel to main road ending in a rectangular enclosure to the SE. L-shaped vallum to the E. Signs of stonework when probing 8in below the turf on the mound. A few large stones about on the surface. (1)
Almost square moat 30m x 25m and ditch approx 6m wide and max 2m deep. Very difficult to interpret other earthworks in the field but some are probably due either to small scale quarrying or slippage. Vallum probably old course of Great N Road before it was turnpiked. No stonework was visible. (2)
