The range of buildings along the E side of the Turning Yard were known as Lord Lincoln's Stables and pre-date the larger stable block to the N. There is a clock tower over the archway which houses a clock by John Whitehurst of Derby (1734-1776). It has a bi-metal temperature compensation system of his own design and bears the date 1765. (1)
