Full Description

There is also a warehouse on bank of river Trent of same materials (as malthouses) consisting of basement and 2 floors (basement floods throughout the winter). First floor turned into living quarters. Top floor empty but used in 1914-18 war as German prison camp (see M8726). To reach top storey there is a flight of steps on the side away from the River. Building is 45ft x 20ft. On river side of building there is a large door on top storey and evidence of a derrick used for loading and unloading barges. Roofing still in very good condition - no signs of decay. Iron post on river bank probably for tying up barges. Very substantial building - 4 tie rods through for support. (1756 ?) (1)
