Full Description

Old Vicarage, home of W Brewster. (1)
The house is architecturally plain. It comprises a 2 storeyed brick built cottage with modern extensions. The main range contains a thin "tudor type" brick that appears to be prevalent in the locality. The gabled roof is pantiled and the windows are of a small sliding type. A plaque in the E wall records that it was the house of William Brewster 1594-1607. No confirmation of this claim was obtained, though the house would appear to be of this period. (3)
Not outstanding. The plaque noted by (3) has now been removed. (4)
House, c.1600, C18 and C20 with C20 renovations. 1st floor timber frame. (5)
See L 8772 for alternative site of William Brewster's house.
