Thorney Hall stood near the church of St. Helen. There had been a house on the same site since c.1480. … rebuilt c.1750 … further additions and alterations were made to the house c.1912. During WW1 the house appears to have been used as a hospital … August 1963 … put the house on the market. A local newspaper described it at that time as 'crumbling to the ground'. The house was demolished soon afterwards and a new house built on the site. (3)
