Full Description

In 1963 J. Wacher excavated at Wharf Close for the Ministry of Public Buildings and Works. Two possible Iron Age buildings were found in Trench 1, sealed beneath the rampart. The earlier was circular in plan with a cobbled floor while the later was rectangular. Both were apparently associated with Iron Age pottery. (1) (2) (3)
In 1960, native and very early Romano-British wares were obtained from two ditches of the polygonal enclosure in the Oddhouse Closes. (3) (4)
See M3012 for Ro town and cross refs.
