Full Description

APs show ring ditch of barrow excavated in 1950 (see L8623 for AP refs). The site of a BA round barrow was excavated in 1950 when a slight mound was still visible. The remains of a probable clay-lined burial pit was found centrally, mutilated by Med or later robber trenches. Finds of a food vessel rim (105-50), 2 beaker sherds (104-50), other ? BA sherds and Ro sherds (106-50 and 107-50) are in NWM along with an excavation report. (1) (2) (3)
At the site of the barrow a low mound, max height 0.3m and c 35.0m across is visible. Here AP YV 53 shows a strong circular ditch with a gap towards the road, and this is in Mill Field - mound converted for a mill ? (4)
Morph: 175.54.1 barrow. (5)
