Full Description
The hunting lodge of Robert Sutton d.1723, second Lord Lexington, of nearby Kelham. Built after his retirement in 1718. It was a house of the Coleshill type with two detached, flat-roofed wings. The N wing [has] vanished. (1)
Named 'Averham Park'. (2)
Some part of the south wing may … belong to c.1660. The second Robert was born at Averham Park in 1668. He … must have carried out the building of the present lodge in the last years of his life. Its completion [was] in or shortly before 1720. (3)
