Ranges of barns, one curved with part dated 1718. (1)

Range of threshing barns and carriage archway. 1718 and early C18. Designed by and built for Sir Thomas Parkyns. Red brick, some blue brick chequering. Plain tile roof. (2) (3)

Sir Thomas Parkyns ‘the wrestling baronet’, rebuilt in the 1720s and 30s many of the farms on his estate in a plain classical style of red and black brick with red tiled roofs. Many are signed with his initials. He inherited his estate in 1680 and the farms were built to serve the parish’s open-field farms. (4) (5)
