In Church Street … on the same side [as the Swan Hotel] the equally big White Hart. (1)
Public house. Late C18, altered mid C19, restored late C20. (2)
The original White Hart was a timber framed building … bequeathed by Dame Cecilia Flogan to the parish church under the terms of her will in 1521. Part of the Tudor building was pulled down in 1870. In March 1874 the ... Trustees applied … to rebuild the White Hart … The inn was trading in the autumn of 1874. (3)
Mr. R. White has received instructions from the Midland Railway Company to sell by auction on ... October 25th 1869, the … corn chamber, brewhouse, cellar and part of the White Hart. (4)
Substantially rebuilt with modern appointments about 24 years ago [i.e. c.1875]. (5)
