Full Description
Named 'Haxey Bridge'. (1)
Road bridge, late C18. Rendered … ashlar parapet. (2)
Stone bridge over Idle, now carrying a footpath. The 'rendered … ashlar parapet' is in fact solid concrete, with some concrete rendering at the ends. The Idle was made navigable in 1720 so the bridge may be earlier than thought. (3)
Bridge shown on Chapman. (4)
See M17947 for new bridge.
