Ranges of barns, [one] inscribed TSP 1734. (1)
Threshing barn. 1734, later C18 extension. Designed by and built for Sir Thomas Parkyns. Red brick with blue brick chequering. Plain tile roof. (2) (4)
Part of model farm (3)
Sir Thomas Parkyns ‘the wrestling baronet’, rebuilt in the 1720s and 30s many of the farms on his estate in a plain classical style of red and black brick with red tiled roofs. Many are signed with his initials. He inherited his estate in 1680 and the farms were built to serve the parish’s open-field farms. (5) (6)
