Full Description
House. Early C18, with shopfront c.1875. (1)
The samples taken from the main roof of the Front Range did not date and this is probably due to the shortness of the ring-width sequences of the majority of these samples. Dendrochronological analysis has dated the rearmost roof and the small roof off the stairs to AD 1655, with some reused timbers from AD 1282-AD 1302 and the early fourteenth century. These two roofs are at the rear of the building and possibly point to a later frontage being added to an existing mid-seventeenth century building. Some timbers taken from a window frame removed from the rear also date to AD 1655. (2)
