Full Description

Ten acre plot of land allocated to Improvement Commissioners on 1st December 1857 for both Dissenters and Church of England. Originally there were 2 mortuary chapels connected by a gateway and surmounted by an octagonal spire. There were separate lodges for the Superintendent and the gravedigger. It was built at a cost of £3,500.
The topography of the site viewed from the Nottingham Road is quite dramatic and there are a good number of mature ornamental trees. (1) (2)
