Full Description

Hall shown on Chapman's map of 1774, Hall with extensive park and details on Sanderson 1835. Throsby says it ''has a fine park and pleasure grounds in an improving state". The Hall was demolished in 1963, stable block also demolished. Estate church by John Carr is listed grade L sundial grade II*, wellhead/memorial, boundary wall and gates and sundial at the church grade II. Sir John Soane and possibly James Gibbs also involved in design of estate. Landscape virtually untouched after demolition of buildings. Parterre designs were prepared by William Nesfield (who also worked at Kelham Hall). (1) (2)
