Full Description

House shown on Chapman's map of 1774, Hall and large park on Sanderson 1835, park even larger in 1890. The hall, of c 1700 and later, is listed grade 1, lodge, stables, schoolhouse and icehouse are listed grade II. The church, grade 1, is immediately adjacent. Remains of walled garden, many mature trees, terracing? some yew hedging. Very good parkland on approach to village. Connection with Nesfield? (possibly drew plans). (1)
Article refers to map held at NCRO (Ref: DD CW Sa/1-2). The park was formed at the tirne of the enclosure of the village (some time between 1735 and 1766) from two old enclosures in the immediate vicinity of the hall. (5)
