Full Description

C19 formal garden, 1.2ha, with adjacent parkland, 8ha. House early C16, many times altered, extended andreduced, 1628, 1730s, c.1740, c.1800, 1870s. Formal Courtyard garden laid out c.1875. Box parterre of geometrical and symmetrical design with sundial in centre. Herbaceous border, rose beds, original paths and yews. To east of Hall, semi-formal garden established 1972-73 , bounded to north and east by brick wall of 1628, facing park to south. Yew hedges interplanted with box and beech. informal shrub border. Variety of established specimen deciduous trees in park. Site of Special Scientific Interest to rear of Hall where tulipa sylvestris and ornithogalum nutans grow wild. (2)
