Full Description

Three trial trenches were excavated by TPAT in 2010 to evaluate the footprint of a proposed conservation pond. An oak post was found in trench 2. The post measured 1.78m in length with a maximum girth of 0.32m. One end is worked to a point with cuts consistent with the use of an iron tool. It could be a one off find or could indicate a riverine structure. Neither the post nor its context could be dated but the wood is potentially suitable for scientific dating. (1)
