Full Description
A thick homegenous deposit of brown loam containing animal bone and 22 pieces of pottery, 21 were late Saxo-Norman. A shallow ditch running southwest - northeast was associated with this layer but not possible to determine if it cut or was cut by the layer. The ditch ran perpendicular to the medieval property boundaries and parallel to Kirkgate to it may represent a division within a burgage plot. (1)
