Full Description
C19 two-storey brick-built detached cottage with pebbled-dashed render and pantile roof, with (later additions of) a coal shed and toilet. Earliest conveyance…in 1858. A building appears in this location on Sanderson’s Map of 1835. Although the long weaver’s windows are no longer immediately visible at this property there is evidence for their existence. Externally an imprint has been left in the render. Particularly visible on the east and south walls. Internal investigation on the east wall of the bedroom revealed window frames hidden in the wall…and would have been 6 pane windows. Stairs are a later insertion. The floors were made strong to take the strain of the machinery, using thick closely spaced floor joists. In 1914 OS map shows a series of outbuildings against the main building. (1)
These windows have been reinstated in the north and south elevations and the east gable end. West gable not visible. (Pers comm J Buckley, 2018)
