Full Description

Map depiction of Cheese House, West Burton (1). 19th century building. Demolished sometime between 1950s and 1970s.
Possible linear feature in TP12 cutting into the alluvium. As revealed, it was c.2m in length, running NW-SE. At least 1.8m wide. Fill contained post-medieval pottery including bone china but this couldn't be recovered. It could represent the 'grubbed out' foundations of the Cheese House. Buried by dumped fuel ash. An overlying layer contained brick fragments from the demolition of the building. (2)
