Full Description
Both the character of the features and the significant assemblage of pottery recovered during excavation (including large portions of vessels) are consistent with probable domestic activity. 89 sherds in total were recovered from the area of the gullies; 58 from the upper fill and 31 from the fill above. Of particular interest was a near complete scored ware vessel (1)
Whilst there is some variation in the estimated widths (0098: 1m; 0102: 0.6m; 0112: 0.6m) and depths (c. 0.2 – 0.36m) of the three gullies this is likely to owe much to truncation levels. The shared alignment and close juxtaposition/intersection suggests a process of replacement (possibly progressing south to north) and probable shared function. (1)
