Full Description
Two-storey brick-built linear stable range under a pintile roof with some possible glass pantiles. Decorative (cogged) brick-band divides the two storeys. To the ground floor one casement window, one split door (probably a later insertion as it cuts into the brick band) and one plank door. Upper-storey has 3 large loading hatches. Rise and fall brackets survive to the gutter. This range is attached at both ends, at the north to Causeway Cottage that fronts onto Main St. and to the south to a pigeoncote/dovecote. The Dovecote: Brick-built in the same brick as the stable range and under a pantile roof with coped gables with kneelers. Later brick-built lean-to with pantile roof on front elevation with double garage door. Both stable and pigeoncote built by 1883 (1), possibly by 1835 as buildings appear in this location on Sanderson's map of that date but cannot be clearly identified. The 1883 OS map shows these buildings and the barn on the main street to be enclosed within the same boundary wchich is separte to Manor Farmhouse. By 1897 a square plan builing appears within the same boundary. (2)
