Formerly part of a complex of buildings (others no longer survive) that comprised of the Great Northern Railway Station at Linby. When built the primary purpose of this building was as a weighbridge. The Great Northern Railway lines, sidings and the building are not shown on the Nottinghamshire XXXII.NE Ordnance Survey 25 inch sheet surveyed 1878-79 but are shown on the Nottinghamshire XXXII.8 sheet revised in 1899. The 1914 OS 25 inch (XXXII.8) shows a weighing machine (annotated W.M.) directly in front of the building (to the SW) and nearby cattle pens. The station closed in 1916. The building is now within an area of public open space and is the local heritage centre. A single storey, single room detached red brick building with blue brick course to plinth and single gable blue slate roof, blue clay triangular ridge tiles and overhanging timber eaves. Single red brick stepped chimney on gable end wall with internal corner cast iron grate. English bond brickwork using machine-made bricks with weatherstruck mortar and timber heritage replacement plank door and window within brick segmental arched openings and carved stone cill to window. Single window opening with timber casement window, comprising 6 upper and 3 lower panes. Gable end narrow rectangular vents. Heritage replacement metal half round gutters and rainwater goods. Diamond pattern blue brick pavers on concrete access ramp with modern metal handrails. Internal features include wooden floorboards, plastered walls and corner fireplace with fitted cast iron grate.
