Full Description

A north/south aligned ditch was recorded along the eastern c.2m of the test pit.

The ditch cut alluvium, but was sealed by the upper alluvium (which contained a broken white corticated flake, 18th – 19th century pottery and a copper waste fragment). The ditch had a moderate, concave side (western) and a relatively flat base, with two fills.

Although undated the ditch correlates exactly with a straight, linear discontinuity (field boundary ditch) in the topography of the site and the interfluve, recorded on a 2015 LiDAR survey.

Residual worked flint from the ditch included a core, an undiagnostic white patinated flake and an Early Bronze Age/Beaker period (2400 – 1800 BC) barbed-and-tanged arrowhead. These were placed in a context above the ditch.
