Full Description

This test pit had three post-medieval/modern pits and a ceramic land drain cutting the natural gravels, at 0.57m depth.

A single, 0.07m thick coarse sand alluvium with common gravel underlaid the ploughsoil.

A small assemblage of 16th – 20th century pottery, cbm, clay pipe fragments, copper alloy sheet fragment and slag were recorded from the topsoil and the pits. A residual sherd of medieval pottery (11th – 16th century) was also recorded from the alluvium.
