Full Description

Pottery: 740 sherds; 5 Romano-British, 2 early Medieval, 16 Medieval, 19 Late Medieval/Early Post Medieval, 141 Post Medieval, 494 Early Modern+, 63 undiagnostic.

Ceramic Building Material: 213 fragments were collected, of these 62% of the material was coded as RTMISC meaning that no diagnostic dating could be made. 2 Roman roof tiles (possibly Imbrex or tegula) and 1 possible medieval roof nib was recorded. Other pieces were modern brick, roof and drain fragments.

Clay Tobacco Pipe: 56 fragments were found, mainly stems but some bowls indicating late 17C. 20% of the sherds are of late 17th-18th date, the rest are modern.

Flint: 1 flint tool fragment was collected.

Glass: 95 fragments of glass were collected, the majority being early industrial/modern bottle glass fragments. There were 4 fragments of an earlier date (possibly 17/18th century). These have been retained for further inspection.

Miscellaneous Finds: 84 miscellaneous items were collected, comprising 44 oyster shells, 5 small & large mammal bones, 3 animal teeth (1 pig), 13 pieces of charcoal/coal/coke, 13 pieces ferrous slag, 2 misc. fired clay items and 4 modern metal fragments. These items were discarded
