Full Description

Pottery: 436 sherds; 8 Romano-British, 3 Early Medieval, 16 Medieval, 40 Late Medieval/Early Post Medieval, 142 Post Medieval, 211 Early Modern+, 16 undiagnostic.

Ceramic Building Material: 359 fragments were collected. 1 Roman tegular and 1 misc. Roman tile were recorded. 78% of the material was coded as RTMISC meaning that no diagnostic dating could be made. Other material consisted of modern brick, pantile, roof tiles and drain fragments.

Clay Tobacco Pipe: 28 fragments were collected, mainly fragments of stem, but 3 bowl fragments bowls date to late 17th century.

Flint: 1 fire-cracked pebble was recovered.

Glass: 100 fragments were collected, mainly early industrial/modern in date. 4 fragments of glass are earlier in date and have been retained for further analysis.

Miscellaneous Finds: 37 miscellaneous items were collected, including 6 shell fragments, 5 large mammal bones, 3 animal teeth (possibly sheep and cow), 5 pieces of coal, 7 slag fragments, 8 roofing slate fragments, and 3 metal items (2 nails, 1 horseshoe). These items were discarded.
