Full Description

Pottery: 162 sherds; 1 Romano-British, 1 Early Medieval, 24 Medieval, 18 Late Medieval/Early Post Medieval, 63 Post Medieval, 51 Early Modern+, 4 undiagnostic.

Ceramic Building Material: 288 fragments were collected, of these 3 were possibly Roman tegula fragments, 1 possible Roman imbrex, and 10 medieval tile fragments, 1 of which was green glazed. These have been retained for further research. 58% of the material was coded as RTMISC meaning that no diagnostic dating could be made. Other material consisted of brick, pantile and roof tiles fragments.

Clay Tobacco Pipe: 9 fragments were collected, mainly fragments of stem, with 2 bowl fragments bowls. Most stems were modern with one possibly of late 17th-early 18th century date.

Flint: 1 tool fragment recovered.

Glass: 8 fragments were collected, 1 early modern bottle sherd but the others were unidentifiable modern pieces.

Miscellaneous Finds: 26 miscellaneous items were collected, including 6 shell fragments, 2 animal teeth (possibly sheep and cow), 2 slag fragments, 6 roofing slate fragments, and 3 metal items (modern nails and drill bit). 10 miscellaneous pieces of modern wall tile were collected. These items were discarded.
