Full Description

The ditch ran through the western half of an evaluation trench on a north/south alignment. It measured 0.63m wide by 0.43m deep with steep straight sides. Historic mapping indicates a former field boundary to west on the same alignment to which the ditch is likely contemporary. As part of the process of amalgamating smaller fields in the post-medieval/ modern period a land drain was inserted in the ditch prior to backfilling.

The ditch is likely mirroring the alignment and closely relating to boundaries shown on historical mapping from 1841.
