Full Description

The ditch lay 4m east of another ditch and extended 3.25m eastwards beyond the limits of the excavation and under the adjacent Station Road. It produced a small mixed group of eleven vessels ranging in date from the 12th to 16th centuries. The latest two sherds probably date to the early to mid 16th century. A later recut of the ditch produced three pottery sherds of 14-16th century but also a part of a Beverley jug or bowl of 17-18th date, which probably dates this phase. A small fragment from a handmade brick of 14th to 16th century date and a 13th to 16th century flat roof tile with a square peg-hole came from this feature.
