Full Description
A pit which contained a small group of sherds from six vessels including three handmade Doncaster Splashed ware jugs probably dating to between the mid/late and late 12th century. The other vessels include a late 9th to 10th Lincoln Kiln Type jar. It also contained the copper alloy base of a candlestick. From the 14th until the 17th centuries, brass candlesticks appeared in all but the most prosperous houses, and were made in forms particular to the material.
It was sealed by a layer which produced a single medieval jug sherd of late 13th to early/mid 14th century date.
