Full Description

A large pit cutting a gully. Pottery sherds from nineteen vessels, including some residual 13th century examples, came from this pit. The group probably belongs to the second half of the 15th century and includes jugs and bowls in Humberware and a range of coal measure fabrics. An environmental sample from its fill produced charred cereal grains of wheat along with a few weed seeds of thistle, buttercup and clover. The fish bones also found in the sample consisted of eel and possibly pike species mixed with bird and amphibian bones.

Probable well.
