Full Description
A handful of postholes contained pottery of later medieval date. One posthole was situated in the north-east corner of the site. It contained a single abraded medieval sherd and a tiny fragment from a handmade brick of probable 14th to 16th century type.
Near the centre of the northern part of the site were four more postholes which formed an approximate row on a north-west/south-east alignment but this is probably fortuitous. Another posthole produced a single sherd from a Coal Measures Whiteware jug of 14th to early 15th century date. A third posthole contained a fragment of flat roof tile of 13th to 16th century. An additional posthole produced a single sherd from a Coal Measures Orangeware jug of mid 15th to 16th century date and fragments from two 14th to 16th century bricks. The most westerly posthole produced two sherds of mid/late 14th to mid 16th century date and a small fragment from a handmade brick of 14th to 16th century type.
