Full Description

Along its eastern perimeter several linear features were just visible, cutting into the natural soil. These represented a south west to north east linear and a north west to south east linear. The features intercut each other forming a junction, although it was not clear in section or plan to which was the earlier feature. Both contained comparable pottery evidence, dating these features to the late Iron Age to Roman periods.

The features found most likely represent Roman field boundaries and are possibly associated with the Roman Villa believed to be located somewhere in the immediate locale.
