Full Description

Pottery was only recovered from a trench and was classified as unstratified but most likely was found within subsoil or topsoil deposits. The earliest pottery recovered is an abraded sherd of green glazed Humber ware. The Humber ware tradition lasted from the late 13th to the early 16th century AD, with a peak of production at some point in the 15th century. Its presence here is probably the result of night soiling.

The remaining pottery was all of 19th or 20th-century date. Utilitarian wares are represented by two Brown Glazed Coarseware pancheon sherds. A sherd of Unglazed Red Earthenware probably came from a land drain.
