Full Description

Cutting the natural was a possible undated double posthole was observed. This was a sub-rectangular shape with rounded corners and half of the cut was shallow with gentle sides while the other half was steep sided. The cut measured 0.58m by 0.3m and a maximum of 0.15m deep. This was filled by a loose mid brown silt and a large stone. The stone had been partly displaced by the blade.

It is possible that the large stone was a natural erratic, though there are no drift deposits which might normally contain such material recorded for the area. The probable posthole was isolated and no obvious associated features were observed. It is therefore unclear if the posthole represents one element of a fence or a single post.
