Full Description

Now converted to veterinary practice in the late C20.
Originally 3 buildings, a barn, stable block, and open-sided shed arranged around a narrow yard. BARN: single-storey with opposing single doors, cruciform ventilation holes and a pitching hole (now blocked). The brickwork is irregularly bonded with alternating headers and stretchers every third or fourth course and a denticle course under the gables. The doorways are recessed, and the hinges set in sandstone blocks. It was probably constructed in the early C19. A lower extension was added to the east end of the barn with a dovecote in its gable. The open-sided shed was built sometime after the dovecote extension, perhaps in the early 1900s. The barn and stable show on the 1900 OS map but not the open-sided shed. The map evidence would seem to confirm [site] observations that the barn and stable block were probably built in Early C19 and the open-sided shed in Early C20. (1)
