Full Description

Within Dam Banks, the main leat would have flowed into a triangular shaped holding pond with high banks surrouding it and a terrace within it.

On Sanderson's map of 1835, a subsidiary pond seems to still hold water, although it appears to be the same feature as the holding pond, the presence of a bank between the two is not very clear. However, on the Ordanance Survey map of 1880, the subsidiary pond seems to have dried up and the area has become a field; the holding pond is suggested to be an area of marshland.
