Full Description

The survey identified one feature considered to have medium potential based on this analysis.

This feature consists of two sharply defined strong positive anomalies that form two rectangles, one 7.6 / 5.4m and the second 12.5 / 7.2m. Their rectangular form and size indicate something constructed and therefore could be associated with a building predating the 19th century historic OS mapping.

This feature is detected running parallel with Retford Road. There is a possibility that these structures may be associated with the modern use of the site as a recreation ground, however, the size and rectangular form indicate a potential for them to predate the historic Ordnance Survey mapping of Mattersey. It is therefore recommended that further investigation be undertaken to determine the nature of these anomlalies.
