Date/Year 2023

Abstract/Summary

Between the 11th and 12th of January 2023, a geophysical survey was undertaken that covered a single field located to the south of Mattersey Hall, Retford Road, Mattersey, North Nottinghamshire. The survey identified three elements that may require further investigation. These included possible rectangular structures running parallel with Retford Road, a possible relic field system, and cultivation marks. In addition, throughout the survey there were both scatters and concentrations of ferrous spikes likely associated with the site’s use as a recreation ground.
