Full Description

An earthwork, consisting of a shallow ditch with a bank on either side was identified during the site visit/walkover.

This feature consisted of a ditch approximately 0.5m in depth with a bank on either side of approximately 1m in height.

This feature is not clearly defined on any historic cartographic sources or visible on any aerial photography. However, when the location is compared with the estate map dating to 1637, it would appear that the earthwork is aligned with the boundary which separates Beskall from North Lathes and Welley Beskall and it is therefore likely that this earthwork formed part of the same boundary which is visible within Scotland Bank and New Park Wood.
