Full Description

The earliest datable feature on site was a ditch, dated by the Roman Trent Valley Grey ware sherd found in the fill, and is placed stratigraphically below a pit which it cuts at its N end, and was visible in the W facing section, but which did not provide spot datable artefacts. The fill also contained environmental remains in line with manuring and other similar domestic activities, suggesting that there was a Roman domestic settlement immediately nearby.
