Full Description
Possibly the oldest building on the site…with evidence of stone footings. The stable faced east, with two doors of different widths for the bigger draught horses and for the hacks. Above the stable was a granary which, although later altered, still has an example of early roughly hewn roof timbers…suggesting a late C18 date for the building which was later altered. In C19 the stable block was partly rebuilt and heightened and a staircase was contained within a new cartshed added at theorth end. A narrow unit range with three doors was added to the west side of the stable, probably housed pigs. (1)
