Full Description

A small sub‐circular feature 0.5m long by 0.45m wide, with shallow sides and an irregular flat base, 0.08m deep. This feature was filled by a uniformly dark brown grey‐silt‐sand, with frequent small sub‐round stones, 0.08m thick, containing two lithic artefacts, one of which appears to have been worked as well as limited environmental remains. This feature was sealed by a mid‐red orange compact sand colluvial deposit, 0.33‐0.55m thick, which in turn was overlain by topsoil, 0.33m thick.

Environmental sampling: Corylus avellana nut shell fragments (2), <2mm charcoal (2), >2mm charcoal (2) poorly preserved, incudes Quercus sp and Alnus/Corylus

One single flake came from the fill of the pit, the other from the topsoil.
