Full Description
The only features that could be identified as being earlier than the enclosure system that dominated Area 1 were two pits cut by a probable enclosure ditch (similarities in the proportions, profiles and fills of these two features suggest that they may in fact have been both ends of a single elongated pit, approximately 1.7m long and 0.20m deep, separated by the cut of the ditch). However, no finds were retrieved from either pit fill: their nature cannot be ascertained, and they can be dated only by their stratigraphic
relationship with the enclosure system.
