Full Description

Further NW (from L3011) more features but APs too dark to distinguish them. (1)
Under cereal crop. The crop height is regular and undisturbed, indicating a fairly level ground surface. Perambulation produced only normal modern field debris. The linear ditches are possibly Ro (2)
Morph: 193.15.1 field boundary. (3)
The resistance and gradiometer surveys were sufficiently successful in detecting anomalies which correspond with the expected section of the double ditch feature in area A. (4)
Numerous modern ploughmarks could be seen cutting down into the subsoil. No archaeological features discovered in either of the trenches. Roman pottery was recovered along most of the length of Trench 1 with a concentration at the S end, this could suggest the area of a ploughed out ditch. (5)
See L11721 for flints, L11722 for Ro pottery, L11723 for Med finds, L11724 for P Med finds.
See L3011 for cropmarks beside Staythorpe Road, L3159 for cropmarks to N, L12048 for nearby ditches.
