Full Description

Ro material was found in the gravel pits. This included a disc brooch (approx diameter 1.5in), now in the possession of the foreman of the site, and sherds of pottery, including part of the rim of a mortar with the stamp SARRI. (This is the stamp of Sarrius, who was working at Rossington Bridge, near Doncaster, c 155/60-170 AD). (1)
The base of a samian vessel with the potter's stamp CRESIMI, was found by RB Dove. The stamp appears to be that of Cresimus of Montans (Domitian-Trajan). Also found was a bronze dress pin, a sewing needle approx 4in long, and half a jet finger ring. (2)
See L8663 for quern.
Many finds in gravel pit - see SMR map.
